 Prompt Response: I enjoyed Fences the most because the play format made the story feel more direct and engaging. The dialogue helped me clearly understand the characters’ emotions and conflicts without having to work through long descriptions, which made it easier to stay interested. I found Wild the most challenging because the memoir included more reflection and detailed narration that required closer attention to follow. Knowing that I connect more with plays will help me approach future readings by focusing on character interactions and considering strategies to stay engaged when reading longer narrative texts.

Prompt: Write about a truth you were afraid to accept.

  Prompt Response:  Watching my mom deal with the loss of her older family members was a difficult but necessary wake-up call that life is fragile and temporary. It forced me to finally face a fear I'd carried since childhood: that my time with my grandparents and older relatives is limited. Now, instead of avoiding that difficult truth, I use it to make sure I never take a single moment for granted when we are together.
