In 2–3 well-developed sentences, reflect on how you spent your Holiday Break. Then, identify four personal you would like to achieve this year and briefly explain why each goal is important to you

Prompt Response: My break went well I spent a lot of time relaxing and going out with friends. I spent Christmas Day with family and we had a feast and presents. On New Years me and my family exploded fireworks. Over all I enjoy this break but it went too quick in my opinion.

The first goal that I want to achieve this year is to save up for a car. This goal is important because it will make transportation a lot easier for me, and it will allow me to become more independent. To accomplish this goal, I will save up at least $500-1000 a month. By May 2026, I plan to have finished my goal.

The second goal that I want to achieve this year is to become fluent in French. This goal is important because I'm planning later in life to travel to France for vacations. To accomplish this goal, I will do at least an hour or two of French daily lessons. By May 2026, I plan to have finished my goal.

The third goal that I want to achieve this year is to gain weight. This goal is important because I'm done with being skinny and want to be around 150 or 180 pounds. To accomplish this goal, I will eat around 3,500-4,000 calories daily and exercise a lot. By May 2026, I would like to weigh at least 150 pounds.

The fourth goal that I want to achieve this year is to get all A's in all my classes. This goal is important because last semester I got 2 B's with one class almost becoming an A. To accomplish this, I will try my very best on tests and quizzes and turn all my work in on time.

As Celie’s world expands in these letters, she begins noticing new things about the people in her life. Write about a moment when you suddenly noticed something funny, shocking, or unexpected about someone you see every day (a family member, a classmate, or even a teacher). How did that new discovery change the way you saw them?

These letters show how Celie learns from the people around her, even in small ways. Think of someone in your life who influences you in a positive, everyday way—a friend, relative, teacher, or teammate. Write about what you’ve learned from them and how their influence shows up in your daily life.

Blake uses the chimney sweepers to expose how society ignores suffering. Reflect on a time when you noticed someone being treated unfairly or saw a situation that didn’t seem right. How does this experience connect to the emotions or ideas expressed in one or both poems?
